Gab es doch einen richtigen Stinker, der es zuerst bei uns versucht hatte, ueber das Gepaeck ein paar mehr Scheine einzustecken. Nach diesem Misserfolg wurde er warm. Alle Weiteren, die er unterwegs eingesammelt hat, hat er gleich mal das Doppelte oder Dreifache des normalen Preises abverlangt. Die meisten haben es (wahrscheinlich ohne es ernsthaft zu merken), gerne gegeben. Einer war damit nicht einverstanden und wurde auch laut. Kollege hat ihm dann die Tuer gezeigt und dem Busfahrer (seinem Kumpel) was vorgerufen. Der hat aber nicht gehalten und sie haben sich auf "nur" das Doppelte des normalen Fahrpreises geeinigt. Selbst auf meinen Rat und die Schilderung der Ereignisse hat sich mein engl. Nachbar nicht auf einen Streit einlassen wollen und auch das Doppelte bezahlt. Weitere folgten und obwohl eine gute Kommunikation und Gruppenstaerke unter den Opfern vorlag, haben sie schlussendlich nix dagegen unternommen und auf der naechsten Busfahrt wird es also "Business as usual" bleiben.

In keinem anderen Land war das Ausleihen von Motorraedern oder Mopeds bis jetzt so guenstig wie hier. Zwischen 4-5 Euro muss man bezahlen, um damit einen Tag zu verbringen. Das letzte hier in Krabi hatte knapp ueber 200 km auf der Uhr und ich konnte es sogar noch mit einfahren. Das erste Mal schalten ohne eine Kupplung ziehen zu muessen, auch fuer mich Neuland. Auf 100 km verbraucht die 110er oder 125er so um die 1,5 Liter Normalbenzin, bei forscher Handhabung viell. auch mal 2 L. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt.
Also haben wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen, einige Tage so die Gegend rund um Phuket und Krabi zu erkunden. Vorsicht ist nur geboten bei einer Pinkelpause am falschen Ort. Fuer alle Freunde der Geschwindigkeit haben wir uns nochmal an die Strecke des Maglev begeben um das Vorbeigleiten im Flugzeugmodus zu geniessen. Leider war unsere Woche in Shanghai ziemlich schnell vergangen und weiter gings nach Hangzhou. Da die meisten Zuege mittlerweile alle am Suedbahnhof halten, so wie auch unserer, mussten wir uns von there somehow penetrated to the West Lake on. Hardly the left concourse fell, even the taxi sharks salivating with dollar signs in their eyes upon us. That had to mean, then, that a large business was to be expected. The choice was therefore to be bleeding, or to take risks.
We have then chose the latter and to suggest a nice cop (you could not be sure whether they had understood us now, or simply interpreted only as the bus has naechstbesten) tries the first bus.
When after some travel time and number of stops was still no West Lake in sight yet, we got off and taken to another bumpy conversation another bus in the same direction. After the third and unzaehligen Haltestellen weiter, sind wir dann doch tatsaechlich an der richtigen Haltestelle nahe des Hostel angekommen, gleich in guter Nachbarschaft zum Porsche- und Ferrari Autohaus.

Dort haben wir uns dann nochmal einen Tag ein Rad ausgeliehen. Dabei wurde uns die ganze Dimension der Stadt um einiges besser klar und wir konnten einiges mehr sehen als nur den "tollen" und behueteten Westsee.



Als es auch hier schon wieder anfing kalt und regnerisch zu werden, hatten wir gluecklichweise schon wieder ein Zugticket fuer eine weitere 20-Stundenfahrt nach Guangzhou, genau genommen an Heiligabend ;-) Leider war das Wetter am 25. auch keinen Grad waermer wie erhofft und es regnete without mercy. Da wir noch einen Tag mehr Zeit hatten bis nach Hongkong, dachten wir uns, dass es viell. nicht die duemmste Idee waere, nochmal nach Macau zu fahren und uns im Angesicht der Casinos zu berauschen. Angeblich ist hier ja sogar das kleinste Casino groesser als das Groesste in Las Vegas. Leider hatten wir keine Vergleichsmoeglichkeit, aber imposant war der Anblick von so viel Luxus und Lichtern schon. Unsere Herberge war das eher krasse Gegenteil dazu, aber dafuer bezahlbar und mit einem gewissen Scham, abgesehen von den Moskitos.

Nach einem weiteren kurzen Rundgang auf der Halbinsel ging es mit einer Faehre weiter nach Hongkong-Kowloon. In knapp ueber einer Stunde duest der Katamaran dorthin, fuer schaetzungsweise 60 km?

Ich wuensche allen einen guten Rutsch und fuer die, die es erst spaeter lesen schon ein gesundes, neues Jahr.

Chongqing, eine Stadt der Huegel. Hier ist es ziemlich schwierig zwischen den ganzen Hochhaeusern, Strassen und Gaengen in und um die Haeuser noch zu , Guess where long ago time was the original ground and often where one is currently doing is even. Da die Tueren zwischen den Waggons fast immer offen stehen und es durch die Waggonverbindung reinzieht wie Hechtsuppe, gab es einen vor allem bei Tunneln staendig auffrischenden Wind durch`s Abteil, der allen Muell mit sich gerissen hat und einem die Restwaerme aus dem Koerper zog.

In freudiger Erwartung, dass es Richtung Kueste waermer werden muesste, wurden wir herbe enttaeuscht. In Wuhan, einem der "Hochoefen" des Landes (wie im Reisefuehrer stand), blies uns ein eisiger Wind um die Ohren. Nachts und am 2. Tag gab`s dann reichlich Schnee; also fast wie zu Hause ;-)
Dafuer waren die Herzen der Einheimischen um so waermer.

Also in Shanghai gab es keine Chance, noch kaelter zu sein; nur genauso kalt. Aber schon einen Tag nach unserer Ankunft, wurde alles better and the temperatures are during the day risen to 10 degrees (I think). There is enough sun to all cases, at least as long as it is light and hardly smog.
The city makes a good impression on me and our hotel room is for price / performance probably almost the best thing that happened to us is now in a big city. A sincere thanks to Lei.
