Angkor Wat ist sicher vielen ein Begriff. Eine Ansammlung von Steinen im Nordwesten Kambodschas. Hier gibt es ein paar noch halbwegs naturbelassene Tempel und viele die noch restauriert werden. Ich persoenlich fand die noch nicht restaurierten am eindrucksvollsten. Man bekommt so ein besseres Zeitgefuehl, als wenn einem gesagt wird: "Schau. Und dies ist jetzt 800 Jahre alt".

Die Restaurierung vieler Tempel wird von Regierungen und Organisationen vieler Laender finanziert, wie z.B. Deutschland, Frankreich, China, Japan... Wo nun aber das Eintrittsgeld von 20 US$ pro Person und Tag hinfliesst, liess sich von uns leider nicht aufklaeren. Es gab auf alle Faelle eine sehr grosse Anzahl ehrlicher Touristen wie uns, die es tagtaeglich bezahlen.
Fuer alle, die nicht jeden Tempel sehen moechten und weniger archaeologisches Hintergrundwissen haben wie ich, denen kann ich nur empfehlen das Geld in etwas Sinnvolleres zu investieren. Falls jemand vorhat dort hinzureisen und einige Tempel besuchen moechte, der kann mir gerne schreiben and I will give him appropriate advice.

Was mir auffaellt, folgt unser Reise eigentlich immer dem Verlauf des Mekong.
In Pakse haben wir uns entschieden, zur Abwechslung mal ein paar Mopeds auszuleihen und eine Runde auf`s Bolaven-Plateau zu drehen. Wohlweislich haben wir uns fuer eine Route abwegs der Hauptstrassen entschieden, zumindest auf dem Hinweg. Dies war anfangs auch keine schlechte Wahl, bis sich die Strasse immer mehr verlor und in den Wald fuehrte. Die ersten Wasserdurchfahrten waren noch kein Problem fuer die heissen Oefen, aber dann wurden sie immer tiefer. Mit etwas Sorge, dass sie Wasser schlucken koennten und dies nicht so gut vertragen wie wir, haben wir`s riskiert.

Ploetzlich faengt meine Maschine im Tiefwasser an zu zucken und geht aus. Mist ! Also rausgeschoben und versucht neu zu starten. Und...? Brumm, brumm... gutes Baby. Ab den Berg hoch. Sie zuckt wieder und aus. Scheisse. Und will partout nicht wieder angehen. Jetzt haben wir nen Zapfen, obwohl beim inspizieren des Luftfilters dieser doch recht hoch angebracht ist und trocken erscheint. Also mit etwas Glueck viell. nur die Elektrik. Ich schaue unter die Verkleidung und sehe, dass am Zuendkerzenstecker seitl. das Plaste abgeplatzt ist. Ok, also mal abnehmen etwas trocken blasen und nochmal starten. Und...?
Wow, sie springt wieder an und laeuft wie am ersten Tag.

Dies musste ich dann noch einige Male wiederholen, bis wir auf eine "Mitte-Oberschenkel" deep ford came. Nach etwas hin -und her und dummstellen wurde es nicht besser. Wir haben das Fenster blockiert und es kamen zum Glueck keine Arme mit Paessen von hinten wie in China oder Indien gewohnt. Die Schlange wurde immer laenger und der Kollege hat erstmal in Ruhe alle Paesse einer Reisegruppe bearbeitet. Irgendwann waren auch die alle und wir haben unser einheimisches Restgeld auf die Paesse gepackt (Dollar brauchten wir ja noch fuer`s neue Visum). Das war ihm auch nicht genug und wir haben nochmal ein paar verlodderte einheimische Scheine draufgelegt -alles was wir hatten-, uns unterwuerfig gezeigt und ihm angedeutet, dass wir kein weiteres Geld besitzen und es ja "leider" auch keinen Automaten in der Naehe gibt.
Dann meinte er OK, wir sollen ans Ende der Schlange und er macht es zum Schluss. Damit waren wir aber nicht so einverstanden und schlussendlich hat er sich dann doch dazu bewegen lassen, den Stempel reinzudruecken.

Auf kambodschanischer Seite gab es dann erstmal eine "Gesundheitsuntersuchung". Einmal mit einem Fieber-Laser in der Sonne auf die Wange geschossen, ein Formular ausgefuellt und "pay one dollar !" Sonst behalten wir die Paesse ! Er liess sich dann gluecklicherweise mit den restlichen chin. Yuan bestechen.

Weiter das Visum bezahlen (23 statt 20 U$) und weiter zum Einreise stempeln. Pass abgeben, "pay two dollar" und herzlich Willkommen.

Nachdem wir dann weit ueber eine Stunde auf den Weitertransport mit dem Bus warten mussten, gab es nicht wie versprochen einen grossen Bus mit Plaetzen fuer jeden, sondern vollgestopfte Minibusse und einen steten Wechsel von Ort zu Ort von einem ueberfuellten Minibus der Firma A zum Naechsten der Firma B und satten Verspaetungen. In Kratie gab`s dann gar keine Plaetze mehr, ausser fuer Einen von uns beiden.
Die Jungs haben sich leider ueberhaupt nicht kooperativ oder entschuldigend shown, although we had already proposed a compromise for their lousy organization and wanted to spend the night in Kratie. The seller has made us realize that we have misunderstood something and he is the real victim. A new ticket for the onward journey to Phnom Penh, he can only issue us with new payment.

Nach ein paar wunderschoenen Tagen gings dann zurueck nach Bangkok um unsere Paesse mit den druckfrischen Visa fuer Vietnam wieder an uns zu nehmen. Michael hat auch noch sein Ohr, was nach dem letzten Tauchgang ein paar Probleme gemacht hat, im Krankenhaus untersuchen lassen.

Da wir leider keine USD bei uns hatten, konten wir auch in K.I.P. bezahlen, was uns dann umgerechnet guenstige 33EUR gekostet hat.

Laos macht einen sehr ruhigen Eindruck, die Menschen hier sind nicht ganz so geschaeftig wie in Thailand und die Natur ist sehr aehnlich.

Die naechsen zwei Tage, sind wir dann mit dem Boot den Mekong in Richtung Luang Prabang hinuntergeschippert. In Pakbeng, unserer Station fuer die Nacht brauchte man sich keine grossen Gedanken zu machen, wo man am besten uebernachtet. Alle Herbergen (mit Ausnahme von zwei) hatten den gleichen Preis, ungeachtet des teils sehr unterschiedlichen Standards. Am zweiten Tag, gings dann, mit anderen Booten und vielen Gitarrenklaengen weiter bis to Luang Prabang.

So, it's Saturday afternoon and I am now completely finished by yesterday.

to the Harvest Moon Trip. Heaven, if I remember from my first HM game, I have to laugh. Alle Weiteren, die er unterwegs eingesammelt hat, hat er gleich mal das Doppelte oder Dreifache des normalen Preises abverlangt. Die meisten haben es (wahrscheinlich ohne es ernsthaft zu merken), gerne gegeben. Einer war damit nicht einverstanden und wurde auch laut. Kollege hat ihm dann die Tuer gezeigt und dem Busfahrer (seinem Kumpel) was vorgerufen. Der hat aber nicht gehalten und sie haben sich auf "nur" das Doppelte des normalen Fahrpreises geeinigt. Selbst auf meinen Rat und die Schilderung der Ereignisse hat sich mein engl. Nachbar nicht auf einen Streit einlassen wollen und auch das Doppelte bezahlt. Weitere folgten und obwohl eine gute Kommunikation und Gruppenstaerke unter den Opfern vorlag, haben sie schlussendlich nix dagegen unternommen und auf der naechsten Busfahrt wird es also "Business as usual" bleiben.

In keinem anderen Land war das Ausleihen von Motorraedern oder Mopeds bis jetzt so guenstig wie hier. Zwischen 4-5 Euro muss man bezahlen, um damit einen Tag zu verbringen. Das letzte hier in Krabi hatte knapp ueber 200 km auf der Uhr und ich konnte es sogar noch mit einfahren. Das erste Mal schalten ohne eine Kupplung ziehen zu muessen, auch fuer mich Neuland. Auf 100 km verbraucht die 110er oder 125er so um die 1,5 Liter Normalbenzin, bei forscher Handhabung viell. auch mal 2 L. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt.
Also haben wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen, einige Tage so die Gegend rund um Phuket und Krabi zu erkunden. Vorsicht ist nur geboten bei einer Pinkelpause am falschen Ort.
